About us
In one form or another, my life to date has been devoted to woodworking and the creation of bespoke furniture for the home, place of business or church. Almost anywhere can benefit enormously as the result of the addition of real quality items and that is our role at JRA Woodworking.
Bespoke joinery and furniture
We welcome your enquiry and indeed, by prior arrangement, your visit. Every commission is different; all are bespoke and made to individual requirements and as such will receive my undivided focussed attention. Your requirements are paramount and we will establish how your vision might become a reality.
Woodworking classes
Some people wish to develop their own creativity in the field of woodworking, furniture and restoration, in this case my small classes may be for you. Drawing on my years of experience and thirteen years as Head of Furniture at York College I will personally coax that potential so that you too may enjoy the satisfaction that only the creation of good quality work can bring.
Specialist services
With my friend Jack Metcalfe I co-authored the book entitled 'The Marquetry Course'. Marquetry is a fascinating addition to my own work and involves covering a surface with veneer patterns. Usually this is in different woods but bone, ivory, mother of pearl and brass have been used. This art dates back to the 16th century and the city of Florence.
Whether you are thinking of adding to the quality and ambience of your home or place of business or perhaps curious about developing your own talents, please contact me for an initial discussion so that we may plan the way forward together.
